Liz Sweeney of Nutshell Associates shared an update on the implementation of the FDTA, along with fellow panelists Tyler Traudt, CEO and Co-Founder of DebtBook, David Stringfellow, Deputy State Auditor of Utah, and moderator Mark Funkhauser, President of Funkhauser & Associates. The webinar was sponsored by DebtBook and Funkhauser & Associates.

Traudt kicked off with a primer and update on the law, including the first round of proposed regulations released this summer. He discussed what the rule includes, what it doesn’t address, and likely next steps for regulators.

Sweeney followed with examples and lessons learned from other industries that have tackled similar data standardization challenges. She highlighted lessons from sectors such as corporate securities markets and provided examples of regulatory approaches in other industries or geographies that offer valuable insights for FDTA implementation.

Stringfellow then shared the State of Utah’s legislative efforts to improve data quality and availability for legislators. He discussed insights from the Utah experience, success stories and challenges from various organizations within the state, and how organizations that embraced the regulation benefited in the long run, making their operations smoother and more efficient.
